My Interview On 100 Huntley Street

100 Huntley Street is Canada’s longest running daily talk show.

They tell stories of people who have had life-changing encounters with God – whether they be world leaders, celebrities, sports figures or everyday people and late last year I got to go on the show.

I remember the show as a boy growing up in Canada. In fact, my grandparents bought their first and only TV so they could watch 100 Huntley Street. So it was an honor and fun experience to be asked to come on the show. Normally it airs live, but the night before my interview we had a crazy rain storm that killed the studio power. They had a generator that basically kept the lights and cameras on the morning I arrived but we couldn’t go live. So they taped my interview with Moira Brown and it just aired Monday of this week.

It’s kinda fun to watch it and realize that I don’t look as nervous as I felt and that my words actually made sense. It was so my heart that Gods love would be revealed.

Unraveling The Universe

When it came to a particular chapter in Prone To Love, one of my pastor friends raised an alarm regarding my thoughts about the sovereignty of God. I had written an entire chapter under the title, “God Is Not In Control” and that thought bothered him. He felt it was an incredibly flawed idea. He was also concerned it would cause distress and confusion in my reader. He suggested that promoting the idea that God is not in control would be the equivalent of “pulling the string that unravels the universe.”

Encountering Humanity on 5th and 2nd

Masks, no masks, a black woman, a middle-aged white woman, a red neck, an old white man, and a black man met up yesterday on the corner of 5th and 2nd to work together for the good of humanity!

Father Abraham, Tacos, and God’s Goodness

If Facebook existed during Abraham’s day, I imagine he would have been angry at my thoughts about God’s goodness.

Jesus Loves You, But I’m His Favorite

And John, the guy who knew intimately what Love looked like, and talked like, and acted like, goes on to write about himself as “the one Jesus loved.”

Swords, Spears, Guns, and Lasers

Remember how they were joined by a host of raging superhero death angels shouting “Glory in the highest,” and “On earth, as it is in heaven!” while they committed acts of retributive justice that would make Quinton Tarantino blush.

Seen and Known

Sometimes He speaks when it’s quiet, and sometimes when its loud. Sometimes it’s inconvenient. Right in the middle of Walmart close to Christmas. Listen. Listen. Don’t miss the chance to connect with His heart. He invites us in. He invites us to not just know Him, but to have an experience of love as we follow through.
