What is Hell?

“Hell is not His punishment of sinners; it is the end result of our defiant rejection of the reality of our divine union. “You can’t break away from this divine flame of love. Hell is not separation from God; no one gets that much privacy.

“No, the more you resist his flame of love, your resistance is your own self-condemnation. He is not the enemy of the damned, but the savior of the damned. He came to save the world, but the world stood self-condemned already because of their very rejection of Mr. Life.”

– John Crowder

We are free to reject Him all we want, but we can’t stop Him from loving and pursuing us.

Jesus stepped down into the depth of our depravity. To the very bottom rung of the ladder – He swallowed up our darkness in uncreated light. He destroyed our decay, our depression, our decrepit state of separation in His own servant body on the cross. That, in a nutshell, was the point of the cross – it was about curing the human condition, not paying off an angry Father who was against us.

“I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 8:39)

Isn’t that just good news!

Love you
Lloyd

The Faith That Kills You?

Austrian born in 1879, Franz Reichelt ended up in France. He died in 1912.

He was a tailor, a designer, and an inventor. And he had a vision. He was intent on helping aviators survive large falls should they be forced from their aircraft mid-flight.

Franz was a parachuting pioneer and today is occasionally referred to as the ‘flying tailor.’ He designed the first prototype, it was not like what we know today, no canopy above. It was a wearable parachute.

THE PROBLEM WITH RETRIBUTION WITH JASON CLARK

This podcast announces and features Jason’s new book, Leaving and Finding Jesus, in audio format. Retribution is the title of chapter seven and is presented in its entirety. In this chapter and podcast, Jason juxtaposes retribution with reconciliation and recognizes that a punishment lens on the nature of God is one of the reasons the church is navigating broken trust. It’s also why we currently find ourselves in a Deconstruction Movement.

God is as Jesus revealed Him, and on a cross Jesus forgave. God in Christ reconciled the world to Himself.
