Where are you on the journey?
A spiritual assessment from Rethinking God with Tacos — 12 honest questions, no wrong answers, mapped to the four stages of the road.
The shape of the journey.
Most of us pass through each of these — sometimes more than once. The point isn't to "arrive." The point is to recognize where you are, right now, and stop walking alone.
Most people taking this assessment find themselves somewhere between The Deconstruction and The Greater Love. Wherever you land — you're not alone here.
The Awakening
The weight of religious striving begins to expose cracked foundations. Something deeper and truer is calling.
The Deconstruction
The great disorientation. You're tearing down what was never true. You're grieving, angry, discombobulated, and… hopeful?
The Greater Love
The reconstruction. A kinder, truer Jesus comes into focus. Wonder returns, healing begins, and hope has become a friend.
The Beloved Union
Resting in the measureless love of the Father. Home. Free to live and love without agenda.
You are not lost. You are on a road so many have walked — and there is a name for where you are.
Twelve honest questions.
No wrong answers.
Takes about three to five minutes. When you finish, you'll get a result that names where you are on the road — with a book, podcasts, prompts to sit with, and the people who can walk it with you.
Maybe you've been looking for this.
Church has hurt you.
You're not crazy, and you're not bitter. You're paying attention. There's a name for where you are — and a way through that doesn't require pretending.
You're rethinking what you were taught.
The God you were handed doesn't square with the Jesus you keep meeting. That's not deconstruction gone wrong. That's the door opening.
You've left and don't know what to call yourself.
You haven't lost your faith. You've lost a version of it — and what's underneath is bigger, kinder, and far more honest than what you walked away from.
I made this for the person who's wrestling with questions about God's love and goodness. If that's you, take the assessment. There's an Emmaus Road, and you're not on it alone.

A short note on privacy.
Most "privacy policies" are written to protect the company. This one is written to be honest with you.
What we collect about you.
Nothing — at least, not on a server. The assessment runs entirely in your browser. Your answers, your stage result, and any reflections you write are stored only on the device you're using right now. We do not have a database of users. We do not know who you are or what you wrote.
What "saved" actually means.
When you take the assessment, the result and any reflections you save live in your browser's local storage. They stay there until you clear your browser data, switch devices, or use private browsing. We never see them. They are not synced to any cloud.
This is also the tradeoff: if you switch devices or clear your browser, your saved reflections will not follow you. There is no account to sign in to.
What we use analytics for.
We use lightweight, anonymous analytics to understand which stages people are landing in and which podcasts get clicked. This helps us improve the experience. We do not collect IP addresses, names, emails, or any personally identifying information through the assessment.
If you email us.
If you write to us at contact@afamilystory.org, we'll keep that email private and only use it to write back to you. We will not add you to any mailing list without your explicit permission.
Sharing your result.
The share buttons on the result page generate a link to a stage result, not to your personal answers. When someone you share with clicks the link, they see the stage page itself — they do not see your reflections, your answers, or anything you wrote.
If anything here is unclear or you have a question, write to contact@afamilystory.org. We answer.
